New Generation Thinkers 2014: call for entries

The AHRC and BBC Radio 3 are looking for applications for the New Generation Thinkers of 2014. Up to sixty applicants will have a chance to develop their programme-making ideas with BBC producers at a series of dedicated workshops, and up to then of them will become Radio 3’s resident New Generation Thinkers. Applications are open to all early career researchers based in a UK Higher Education Institution or Independent Research Organisation; applicants don’t have to be AHRC funded.

The subjects for this year’s scheme are all arts and humanities disciplines covered by the AHRC including Design; you can read a FAQ on the scheme here and the terms and conditions of entry here. The application form can be found here; the deadline is 6 February 2014.

MA Fashion students in the Textiles lab

The Textiles workshop at Goldsmiths Design has recently been renovated, and this week, our first class of MA Fashion students were introduced to some of the equipment in the workshop by Textiles lecturer Rose Sinclair. One of the tools that the students got to see at work was the embroidery machine, which transforms a digital design into stitches on fabric.

Design Star Open Afternoon

Do you want to know more about the Design Star studentships for PhD studies? You’ll be able to get a better picture of the studentships as well as have a chance to chat with lead academics from members of the Design Star consortium (Goldsmiths, Brighton University, Loughborough University, The Open University, University of Reading) at our Design Star Open Afternoon on Thursday, January 23rd, right here at the Goldsmiths campus. The event will take place in room 211 of the Lockwood Building from 3 pm onwards (refreshments will be served).
