El Ultimo Grito and Stuart Bannocks author book-zine for the 2020 Verbier Art Summit

El Ultimo Grito and Stuart Bannocks were commissioned by curator Jessica Morgan to generate a publication that would act as provocation/pre-content to the theme of the 2020 Verbier Art Summit: “Resource Hungry: Our Cultured Landscape and Its Ecological Landscape”.

The publication is titled THEY PAINTED THE MOUNTAINS WHITE, published by DESTE FOUNDATION (ISBN 978-2-8399-2100-8). See above a few images of the cover and inside pages.

El Ultimo Grito were also amongst speakers at the Summit, which took place on 31 January and 1 February 2020 in Verbier, Switzerland.

 

 

 

Dr Juliette Kristensen to present Goldsmiths approach to design in Chicago

The event will begin with a brief overview of Goldsmiths given by Will Abraham, North America Admissions Officer, followed by a presentation from Dr. Juliette C. Kristensen, Programme Lead for the BA in Design.

In her talk, “Design at Goldsmiths: Postdisciplinary Practice in the Contemporary World”, Dr Kristensen will discuss the unique form of design philosophy, practice and education of the Department of Design at Goldsmiths, University of London. In situating the strengths of particular approaches and methods in the design work of this department, she will then discuss in detail the two taught programmes of design offered at Goldsmiths: the undergraduate BA Design programme; and the postgraduate MA Design Expanded Practice.

BA Design graduate wins Designers in Residence Pforzheim 2020 scholarship

Jaspar Rogers (BA Design 2019) is one of three designers chosen for the Designers in Residence Pforzheim 2020 programme. The winners will live in Pforzheim from April to June 2020 and work on their projects at EMMA – Creative Centre Pforzheim; read the full announcement on the ARTSTHREAD website.

Jaspar’s graduation project from Goldsmiths investigated the failures of recycling and turned plastic bottles into polyester yarn to be weaved into fabric.
