Hey, look, something is happening! Maya Marangi

This year’s graduating Design students will present their outcomes online starting 22 June, under the title “Hey, look, something is happening!” Until then, the blog gives you a peek at the work that will be on display. Today, we’re highlighting Maya Marangi:

Idiolect-able is a linguistic analysis project of the ‘cookbook’ and the ‘recipe’. I focus on illustrating how the ‘cookbook’ and the ‘recipe’ can serve to show a change in dynamic regarding eating behaviours. These texts can aid an understanding of food histories and the discourse surrounding female self-identity, cultural identity and ‘disidentity’ within the kitchen. I have used the recipe as a vessel, most recently creating a cookbook that works to deconstruct and reshape the possible forms a recipe can take.
