As part of our upcoming Goldsmiths Design Festival, our Design students are invited to take part in a free workshop on making drones with recent MA Interaction Design graduate Jon Flint. The workshop will be an all-day event on 5 September, taking place in the Postgraduate Design Studios at Goldsmiths, and it will provide an introduction to drone technology and principles of flight, followed by practical prototyping with working electronics.
Why drones? Because we need to think and speculate about our life with them as they become less controversial. What will their possible uses be? What will their users be like? The workshop will try to encompass who these future users might be and what they might use a mini drone for.
Having worked on the Drone Aviary project by Superflux, Jon Flint is just the right person to teach you about drones! If you want to know more about his work and approach to design, have a look at our previous interviews with Jon on his graduation project and his return to the Goldsmiths Design workshops as part of our graduate program.
From 3rd – 9th September Goldsmiths’ Department of Design opens its doors to the public for a week of free events bringing together some of the most significant names in the design industry and showcasing the incredible work of its staff and students.
